Oracle Support and Certification on AWS

Oracle fully supports deploying Oracle Database, Middleware and Enterprise Manager products on the Amazon EC2 platform.  Customers will be directed to Amazon for any virtualization related issues.

Oracle will also provide full support for Oracle Secure Backup Cloud module from a software perspective. In other words, Oracle will help resolve any issues that customers may encounter while using the Oracle Secure Backup Cloud module or the Oracle database; however, customers will be directed to Amazon for any issues related to Amazon S3 infrastructure.

It should be noted that Oracle’s support policy for AWS is identical to their policies for other infrastructure components.  Generally speaking, Oracle only certifies specific versions of their products on specific versions of specific operating systems.  With the exception of Oracle’s own products such as Exadata or Oracle VM, Oracle does not certify software beyond the operating system.  This fact should be no more a deterrent to running Oracle on Amazon AWS than it should deter a customer from purchasing an EMC SAN vs running on internal storage.
