MySQL Council activities and presence at Collaborate and MySQL Conference

In the land of the MySQL council,  the IOUG has created a survey asking for community feedback on the future of the council and the IOUG’s programming for MySQL.  This is an excellent opportunity for us to shape how the largest independent user group supporting Oracle technologies helps our community grow and work with Oracle going forward.

As an example, I participated, as the the Chair of the MySQL Council, in a call with Luke Kowalski to talk about communicating with the community so as to avoid fomenting the FUD that our community has been plagued with for the last several years during the two acquisitions.  He has offered to have Tomas Ulin address a few questions from the community during his State of the Dolphin Keynote at Collaborate 11.  These questions are being collected in this form and will need to be submitted by noon PT on 4/6/201.

Additionally, I’m happy to answer any questions about the MySQL Council in person during the conferences.  I’ll be at Collaborate on Sunday for the deep dives, and the Community Dinner East.  Don’t forget to register if you haven’t already.   Monday morning I’ll be heading to the O’Reilly MySQL Conference and Expo appearing in time for the Community Dinner West.  (Again, please register if you haven’t already.)  I’ll be in Santa Clara the rest of the week including giving an Ignite talk and a session on replicated data on Thursday.

I’m looking forward to meeting many of you at the two community dinners.
